MIWORTH AWARE

Miworth Aware is a volunteer initiative of the Miworth Emergency Planning Committee in an effort to relay occurrence of an emergency event in or potentially affecting Miworth.

  • a text option to send out awareness information to those signed up with a cell number

  • an initiative that will be as consistent as possible based on Committee’s awareness of event

  • awareness information = that there is an emergency event in or potentially affecting Miworth and may include a:

    1. fire

    2. mva

    3. derailment

    4. incident blocking Miworth access or egress

    Those without a cell phone are encouraged to reach out to a neighbour that have a cell phone to have that neighbour contact them in case of a notification

    (Neighbour Buddy Program).

IF YOU PREVIOUSLAY SIGNED UP IN THE LAST YEAR YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO SO AGAIN

The Committee was unable to find a mass text tool that was manageable and cost-effective so will send out group text(s) to those that have signed up.

 WHAT MIWORTH AWARE IS NOT:

  • a notification giving Direction to take any action

  • a  replacement for the Regional District Public Alerting system – if you have not registered, it is recommended you do so you get notice of emergency alerts and orders from the Regional District for our area.
