VOLUNTEER COOPERATIVE COMMUNITY WILDFIRE RESPONSE PROGRAM

COOPERATIVE COMMUNITY WILDFIRE RESPONSE is an initiative led by the BC Wildfire Service to understand existing wildfire response capacity in rural and remote communities. Solutions, or pathways to cooperation, are being explored in collaboration with community response societies, local governments and emergency response agencies.

To date, this work has focused on the most high-risk communities outside of fire protection areas.

The MCA is the community response society.  The Emergency Planning Committee oversees the program for Miworth and the Chair is the BC Wildfire contact.

To date 13 volunteers in Miworth have completed the required training.

The Committee works with the Regional District and grant funding has been obtained for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required under this Program for each of the volunteers.
